APRIL 2010

Week 1

Chelsea Wintzinger - Week 1

Chelsea Wintzinger – Huntsville High School

4.13 GPA
Sports: Volleyball

When you begin reading Chelsea Wintzinger’s list of accomplishments, it’s easy to see why she’s an easy pick for April’s Athlete of the Week for Week 1.  First, in the classroom, she never owned anything less than a 4.0 each of her high school years.  She’s also a member of the National Honors Society and Latin Honors Society.  On the volleyball court, she’s an ACE!  As an 8th grader she was viewed as one of the best incoming freshman volleyball players in the country.  She was voted Freshman of the year in 2006 by Prepvolleyball.com and has been a high school All-American each year.  She’s also won three state championships with Huntsville High Volleyball.  Chelsea gives back.  She tutors a reading program for less fortunate children in Huntsville.  She also volunteers with the elderly and homeless.  Congratulations, Chelsea!

Week 2

Blake Massey - Week 2

Blake Massey - Grissom High School

3.8 GPA
Sports:  Baseball

Blake Massey has made a name for himself at Grissom High School.  On the baseball diamond, he has grown into one of the premiere infielders that has even played at Grissom High School.  As a team captain, Blake is called on for his leadership skills and ability to rally his team.  In the classroom there;s no dropping off for Blake.  He’s as intense with his studies as he is with his sports.  Blake has compiled a strong 3.8 GPA and he did it while taking classes, such as Physics, Trigonometry and Calculus.  He’s also a member of the National Honors Society.  In the community, Blake leads with his faith.  He never misses Wednesday morning Bible Study with his baseball team and is an active member in FCA.  Blake has also taking time to minister communities and has donated much of his time to rebuilding and fixing houses in a local impoverished area.  Blake continues to set examples for those following in his footsteps.  Congratulations, Blake!
