Athlete of the Year Awards Dinner
TOC Sports Center will host the 7th annual Athlete of the Year Banquet May 14, 2009. The event will take place at the Huntsville Museum of Art. Each year area student athletes are recognized for their talent, leadership and academic dedication thru a program sponsored by TOC Sports Center, Huntsville Hospital Sports Center and WHNT Channel 19 News.
An Athlete is chosen each week from nominations from teachers, coaches and school administrators for outstanding performance both academically and athletically. Monthly one male and one female student is chosen from this group as “Athlete of the Month”. At the end of the year these students are eligible for ‘Athlete of the Year” which includes a $1,000 scholarship to one male athlete and one female athlete to the College of their choice.
All of the nominees and their families are honored at the Athlete of the Year Banquet and the recipients of the scholarships are announced that evening.
