ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - JANUARY 2010

Week 1

Hannah McGee

Hannah McGee

Madison Academy
3.97 GPA
Sports: Basketball & Soccer

Our first Athlete of the Week for 2010 makes it a point in her daily life to go one step above the rest of the group.  Hannah McGee is setting the pace for all future students at Madison Academy.  She’s puts her nose to the grind when it comes to her school work.  Sporting a 3.97 GPA isn’t easy, but Hannah manages to do that, along with active participation in the Astronomy Club, Mu Alpha Theta and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  Did we mention she was voted Homecoming Queen this past year?  Hannah’s true adventure is on the soccer field and the basketball court.  She’s been part of a region championship team for both teams and was either voted highest GPA or most improved player by per teammates.  Hannah takes her love of sport and shares it with others by being a coach at several school and church camps.  She’s also been sharing her knowledge as a tutor to young kids for the past three years.  Congratulations Hannah!

WEEK 2

Jake Larsen

Jake Larsen

Bob Jones High School
3.7 GPA
Sports:  Football, Track & Field

When Jake Larsen graduates from Bob Jones High School, he will have left his footprint behind for future students to look at and say, “He did it the right way.”  Jake keeps the focus in the classroom by boosting a healthy 3.7 GPA.  He has made a name for himself on the football field, being a Varsity letterman for the last three years.  He was voted “Most-Improved – Defenseman” by his teammates, as well as being nominated for All-Region at his position.  Jake manages time to be a member of the National Honors Society.  He also was pegged for the National Youth Leadership Forum as a Medical nominee and was invited to the Congressional Student Leadership Conference.  In his community, Jake is everywhere.  He’s an Eagle Scout, peer-helper, volunteer and active member in his church.  Jake can’t go wrong.  Congratulations, Jake!
