ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - JANUARY 2010
Week 3

Amanda Chu
Huntsville High School
4.17 GPA
Sports: Softball
Amanda Chu walks the halls of Huntsville High School with a lot of weight on her shoulders. She carries a 4.17 GPA and has been a straight “A” student all through high school. She works hard in her advanced placement classes; scheduling as many as she can handle her junior and senior years. It pays off with a #1 class ranking. Amanda not only knocks it out of the park in the classroom, she’s been known to do the same on the Lady Panthers softball team. A bout with the injury bug has slowed her down a little, but not enough to stop her from lettering two years. You can find Amanda all around the volunteer circle. The Huntsville Hospital Foundation, National Honors Society and the Miracle League baseball team are but a few groups Amanda is actively involved with. Congratulations, Amanda!
Week 4

Blake League
Hazel Green High School
3.5 GPA
Sports: Basketball
At Hazel Green High School, you’ll find a go-getter walking the halls. His name is Blake League and this young man has a firm handle on what it talks to succeed in and out of the classroom. Blake manages to juggle the demands of being a member of the Trojan basketball Varsity team, while maintaining a solid 3.5 GPA. Blake has been named Player of the Game for several tournaments Hazel Green has participated in and has become a go-to guy on the court. In the classroom, it’s the same story. Named to the “Head of the Class” by the Huntsville Times, Blake has also played the role of a Trojan Ambassador, representing his high school in area events and standing ground on the A-B honor roll. Blake stays active with is church and volunteers with the Special Olympics, whenever possible. Congratulations, Blake!
