Week 3
Logan Traylor – Buckhorn High School
3.68 GPA
Sports: Football / Baseball
Only a handful of college graduates move on to be professional athletes. The majority of them will “go pro” in something other than sport (as the commercial states). As successful as our next Athlete of the Week has been on the football field and the baseball diamond, this young man has his sights set on being part of the miracle of modern medicine. It’s not every day a high school senior sees a clear path to their future. Buckhorn High School senior Logan Traylor sees it perfectly. It begins with his commitment to the team. From his days on the freshman team, to being voted to the All-Region football squad, Logan’s leadership skills were always present. So much so, he was named the inaugural recipient of the Ronnie Massey Leadership Award. Come Spring time, Logan’s success transcends to baseball, where he was also named to the All-Region team, AND named one of the 50 best baseball players in Alabama. Logan’s solid 3.68 GPA will help when he takes his next step at the Auburn University School of Pharmacy. Of course, being a member of National Honors Society, being elected 2011 Governor of Alabama Boys State AND recipient of scholarships for excellence and personal achievement will help his cause, also. However, despite the heavy work load, Logan makes it an effort to save some of his time for his community. He is a regular volunteer with the Special Olympics and also volunteers at the Huntsville Train Depot. More recently, Logan heeded the call in Tuscaloosa and helped with the rebuilding efforts of a playground, along with serving at Manna House during the relief efforts. Congratulations, Logan!
