Long time friend to TOC and former Bob Jones Head Football Coach Shannon Brown was named the new head football coach for the Ardmore Tigers Monday.  After completing a six-year tenure at Bob Jones High School, one where Brown lead the Patriots to the AHSAA football playoffs from 2005-2008, Coach Brown beat out 42 other applicants for the position which was vacated by Tracy Malone who stepped down after three seasons with the Tigers.

"I'm really excited about the commitment from the community and the foundation of tradition that has been laid at Ardmore from Coach Cooper," Brown said. "It's just like having Coach "Bear" Bryant at Alabama, you can't replace a legend like that, but I'm excited about the opportunity to bring back greatness at Ardmore."

Brown's first coaching job landed him at Southern Academy in Greensboro where he coached for three years. He later coached at Greensboro Public High School for two years before becoming the head coach at Bob Jones, where he has been the past six years.

"I'm ecstatic," Brown said. "I'm thankful for the opportunity that Ardmore has given me and thankful for the time that I had at Bob Jones. I'm just excited because I want to get back to that family type atmosphere and Ardmore definitely has that. This is just a tremendous opportunity."
