TOC Joins Race With Cotton Row Run
Posted on: 09/25/2009
It wasn’t the hottest day of the summer, but on Monday morning May 25th the streets of Huntsville were burning with the pitter-patter of thousands of footsteps as runners were hoping to cross the finish line at the 30th annual Cotton Row Run. The rain held off but, the humidity that’s so synonymous with the South, was leading the pack. It was the first time The Orthopaedic Center had partnered with the Huntsville Track Club to be a title sponsor of the Cotton Row run and this race didn’t disappoint.
Ernest Kebenei of Las Crusas, NM finished first in the men’s 10K division with a sweltering time of 29:19, just 10 seconds off the course record. Janet Cherobon, a native of Kenya, won the women’s 10K division with a time of 34:35. The early race was reserved for 10K runners, but was followed by a shorter 5K run and later a 1-mile fun run.
Thousands filled the East Hall of the VBC the Sunday before for the Cotton Row Race expo. Many were clamoring for their race number and the latest pair of running shoes. Others stopped by the TOC table to learn a little more about how the physicians at TOC can help ease some of those aches and pains runners are living with, after putting so many miles on their joints. Surprisingly, there are more people running and more people running with pain, than you would imagine. That’s why TOC is pleased to be the official Orthopaedic Group for the Cotton Row Run.
See you again in 2010!
