TOC Sports Recruits D-1, Puts Philip Rivers to the Test

Posted on: 09/25/2009

Philip RiversIn a move that is the first of its kind, TOC Sports has acquired ownership of the D-1 Sports Training facility in Huntsville.  It is the culmination of months of negotiating and planning, but TOC Sports has been named the official sports medicine provider of D1 Huntsville.  Teaming up with TOC Sports is Huntsville Hospital.  Together, they form a sports training and therapy partnership unlike anything offered in the Tennessee Valley.

D-1 Sports Training is a regional chain of sports training centers supported by professional athletes, including Athens native and San Diego Charger quarterback, Philip Rivers.  “Our hope is that whenever anyone in the Rocket City thinks of sports training or therapy, we want TOC Sports, Huntsville Hospital and D1 to come to mind first,” said Will Bartholomew, D1 President and CEO.  “Working together we believe that out three organizations can better serve athletes in our community, as well as adults whose goals may be to get into better shape.”

To kick off the partnership, D1 along with TOC Sports and Huntsville Hospital Sports Center  hosted the Iron Sharpens Iron Quarterback Competition, which included top high school quarterbacks from across the Valley vying for votes to compete against NFL Pro Bowl Quarterback Philip Rivers.  Fans could visit a web-site to vote for their high school quarterback.  The top four quarterbacks with the most votes competed in a variety of offensive drills against Rivers during the First Annual Iron Sharpens Iron Philip Rivers Offensive Skills Camp July 8th .    The camp was held July 7th and 8th at Huntsville High School and was open to athletes ages 7 to 17.
