Physical Therapy
We have a well rounded team of therapists with over 100 years of combined experience in the areas of orthopaedics and spine therapy. Our therapy team will closely guide you with proper technique, intensity, and safety while performing your exercises. Our therapists are highly qualified and experienced to modify and adjust any exercise to meet your individual abilities, needs, and goals. The therapy session will consist of one-on-one treatment which may include manual therapy, exercises, education and specific functional training. Modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, iontophoresis, traction, etc.) are also utilized for pain management, reduction of swelling, and return to function. Our therapists are committed to helping you maximize your independence by working together with you to set individualized goals. We hope to optimize the quality of your movement and improve performance and function while ensuring the development of skills that are of value to you in your everyday life.
Occupational Therapy
TOC employs three Certified Hand Therapists (CHT) in the Huntsville/Madison County area. Our hand therapists are specialized in treatment of the hand and upper extremity. Their services include custom splinting, range of motion/strengthening, dexterity training, sensory retraining, and wound care. Most patients may have been affected by some sort of trauma to the hand or upper extremity; however, some of them come from chronic conditions such as carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, as well as arthritis. Similarly to physical therapists, our occupational therapists perform a detailed evaluation and set up a treatment plan that may consist of modalities (ultrasound, fluidotherapy, iontophoresis, electrical stimulation, etc.), manual therapy, massage, education, and therapeutic exercise. Also, our occupational therapists work very closely with our hand surgeons to make sure that the patients’ needs are being met with the appropriate treatments. The treatment plan of each patient is tailored specifically to return them to a productive lifestyle.
