Wesley Honeycutt, MD

Biography

Dr. Wesley Honeycutt is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic trauma surgeon with specialized expertise in complex fracture care, pelvis and acetabular reconstruction, and nonunion fracture revision. After nearly a decade of rigorous medical training and military service, he returns to his hometown of Huntsville with a mission: to provide cutting-edge, compassionate care to his community.

A proud alumnus of Auburn University, Dr. Honeycutt earned his medical degree and completed orthopaedic residency training at the University of South Alabama. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in orthopaedic trauma at Emory University’s Grady Memorial Hospital—currently the nation’s busiest Level I trauma center—where he honed elite surgical techniques for high-acuity trauma cases.

Throughout his career, Dr. Honeycutt has demonstrated a relentless commitment to advancing orthopaedic science. He has delivered podium presentations nationwide, published surgical technique videos and peer-reviewed research, and was awarded a grant for a biomechanical study on acetabular fracture fixation. Though his prestigious AO Trauma Fellowship to Nottingham University Hospital in England was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, his global perspective on trauma care continues to shape his practice.

Dr. Honeycutt previously served in the United States Air Force at Brooke Army Medical Center, the only Level I trauma center within the Department of Defense. There, he provided complex surgical care to active-duty service members and veterans. He also served as a course instructor for the Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma (ASSET+), training military medical personnel in critical deployment readiness.

Passionate about education and clinical excellence, Dr. Honeycutt held a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University. He trained orthopaedic residents, physician assistant fellows, and medical students in all facets of fracture management, with a particular focus on pelvis and acetabular surgery—his foremost clinical interest.

Dr. Honeycutt is an active member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Alabama Orthopaedic Society. He remains at the forefront of continuing education through specialty courses and conferences dedicated to advanced trauma techniques.

Outside the operating room, Dr. Honeycutt is grounded by his faith, family, and love for the outdoors. He and his wife, Morgan Grace, have been married for over a decade and are raising two energetic daughters—now proudly back in Alabama. The Honeycutts enjoy lake days, where their girls are already mastering watersports like skiing and wakeboarding.

A lifelong Huntsville native, Dr. Honeycutt has a deeply personal connection to the community. He now resides on the very street where he grew up and is eager to give back through clinical care and volunteerism. His past work with Lincoln Village Ministries—rebuilding community centers, tutoring local students, and renovating homes—reflects his passion for meaningful impact both in and beyond the hospital walls.
