Thomas Thomasson, MD

Biography

Dr. Thomasson is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery and specializes in joint replacement, including anterior hip replacement and robotic-assisted knee and hip replacement. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, he began his college education at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude, earning a degree in Biomedical Engineering. He continued his education at Vanderbilt and earned his medical degree in 2004. Dr. Thomasson completed his orthopaedic residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in orthopaedic trauma surgery at the University of Minnesota Regions Hospital in St. Paul Minnesota. He has also received extensive training from Dr. Peter Cole, a leading expert in scapula fracture repair. Dr. Thomasson’s honors and awards include the Thomas C. and Pauline C. Butler Academic Scholarship, the Tennessee Medical Education Scholarship, sophomore acceptance to Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and inclusion in Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, merit-based. He has extensive research experience and is a member of several professional societies.
